III Mini-workshop "Advanced THz and Compton X-ray generation scheme using compact electron accelerator" (AGTaX)

The main range of issues of the seminar is associated with the development of sources electromagnetic radiation in the terahertz frequency and X-ray, based on the generation of radiation beams of relativistic electrons with the use of the mechanism of Cerenkov radiation, transition radiation , Smith-Purcell, parametric X-ray radiation, channeling radiation of charged particles in crystals and other mechanisms. Our colleagues from Japan have a good experimental base (compact unit LUCX, implemented on the use фотопушки based on femtosecond laser), and Russian groups are doing theoretical studies and numerical modeling of the processes leading to the efficient generation of radiation. Members of the department 67 are developing promising scheme for effectively target the source of radiation in the terahertz range, based on the mechanism of Cerenkov radiation and Smith-Purcell.

1st International Conference on Micro & Nanofluidics Fundamentals and Applications.

University of Twente - The Netherlands, 18-21 May 2014

Micro- and nanofluidics has considerably matured over the last 2 decades. This holds both for the fundamental understanding of the flow on a micro- and nanoscale and for the applications in industry. Various start-up companies have been founded and global players have realized the importance of the field. Applications can be found in the chip-industry, medical diagnostics, drug development and delivery, ink-jet printing, … Interestingly enough, more fundamentally oriented and more application oriented scientists in this field have stayed rather separate, generally visiting different conferences. The aim of the present 3-day international Flow14 conference is to overcome this separation and to bridge the gap between these two branches of micro- and nanofluidics.

Invited speaker

Lebedev-Stepanov P.V.
